Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data RHYTHM Technologies ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use the Airwave app for Android TV and Android phones, the Airwave website and account services (together, "Airwave"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. RHYTHM Technologies is responsible for this data as the data fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and as the controller under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation where those apply.
In short
- We collect what is needed to run your account: your email address, your devices and the playlists you add.
- Your playlist settings are stored encrypted and are only sent to your own devices. Our servers never connect to your playlist providers.
- What you watch, your favourites, your recently watched list and where you stopped a movie stay on your device.
- We use Google Analytics on the website and in the app to understand how Airwave is used. We do not sell your data.
1. Data we collect
Account
Your email address and password when you create an account. The password is stored only as a one-way hash; we cannot read it. We also keep whether your email address is verified, when the account was created, and your plan (for example trial start date and whether the account is Premium).
Devices
When you sign in on a device, the app creates a random installation identifier for it. We store that identifier with when the device was added and last seen, so that your plan's device limit works and you can see and remove your devices. If you allow it when you sign in on a device, the device also shares its manufacturer, model, Android version, app version and the IP address it last connected from. If you do not allow it, none of this is collected.
Playlists
The playlists you add: their name, type and connection settings, such as a playlist address, a server address with username and password, a portal address with device identifiers, or the address of a web folder or network share with its sign-in. These settings are encrypted when stored and are sent only to your own signed-in devices, so they can connect to the source. You can see, change and remove your playlists on your account page.
Website
When you create an account, a check runs in your browser to stop automated sign-ups; it does not use any third-party service. Your sign-in on the website is kept in your browser's session storage and ends when you close the browser.
Google Analytics
On the website and in the app we use Google Analytics, a service of Google LLC, to measure how Airwave is used. It collects information such as pages and screens viewed, features used, app and browser version, device type, an analytics identifier, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not send Google Analytics your email address, your playlist settings, or the names of the channels or titles you watch. Where the law requires consent, Google Analytics runs only after you agree, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Google Play purchases
If you buy Premium in the app from Google Play, Google handles the payment; we never see your card details. We receive the purchase reference, the product, and whether and until when the subscription is active, and check them with Google to give your account Premium. The app attaches a one-way code made from your email address to the purchase, so that it can only unlock your own account.
Emails
We send emails needed for your account, such as email address verification, through an email delivery provider.
2. Data that stays on your device
The app stores the following only on your device and does not send it to us: the channel and title lists it downloads from your sources, the lists of videos it finds in your web folders and network shares, programme guides, your favourites and recently watched lists, where you stopped movies and episodes, the audio and subtitle languages you chose, and which sources you selected. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it.
3. Your playlist providers
Your devices connect directly to the sources you add (including web folders and network shares) to download channel lists, folder listings, guides, pictures and streams. Those providers see your device's IP address and the details you set up with them, and their own privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for how they handle your data.
4. Why we use your data
- To provide Airwave (your account, devices, playlists, plan limits and account emails), because you asked us to and to meet our Terms of Use with you.
- To keep Airwave secure and working, for example to stop automated sign-ups and misuse, as a legitimate use permitted by law.
- To understand and improve Airwave with Google Analytics and, if you allow it, device details, based on your consent where the law requires it.
- To meet legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests from authorities.
5. Who we share data with
- Google, which provides Google Analytics and processes analytics data for us, and Google Play, which processes Premium purchases made in the app. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Service providers that host our servers and deliver our emails, only so they can provide those services to us.
- Authorities, where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and of RHYTHM Technologies.
- A successor, if RHYTHM Technologies or Airwave is reorganised, merged or sold; this Policy will continue to apply to your data.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not show advertising.
6. How long we keep data
- Account, device and playlist data: for as long as your account exists. Devices and playlists you remove are taken off your account straight away.
- When you delete your account in the app or on our website, its data is deleted straight away; when you ask us by email, within 30 days. Copies in backups are overwritten in the normal backup cycle.
- Google Analytics data: kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics, at most 14 months.
7. International transfers
Google may process analytics data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Such transfers are protected by the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
8. Security
We protect your data with measures such as encryption of stored playlist settings and hashed passwords. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, update or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, to object to or restrict processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can also nominate someone to exercise these rights for you, and have your grievances addressed. Many of these you can do yourself on your account page; for anything else, write to registration@airwavetv.live. We answer within the time the law sets. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live, such as the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Children
Airwave is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you are under 18, use Airwave only with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to registration@airwavetv.live and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app.
12. Contact and grievances
For questions, requests and grievances about your personal data, contact RHYTHM Technologies at registration@airwavetv.live. Please write "Privacy" in the subject line.
